2024 you've been great! A few things I have learned in my first year of filming and photographing Queensland weddings:
- Linen shirts are a game changer; Powerade is essential.
- Dogs at weddings are the norm - even into the night!
- Eagle rock is not really a thing here...keep pants on.
- Beware of unexpected phone reception dead zones on the road.
- Parking in Brisbane CBD is next to non-existent.
- There is no discernible on/off season for weddings.
- Weather is incredibly unpredictable.
- Golf courses weddings are quite popular (and a lot of fun).
- Folks here love a last minute booking so expect a call at any time!
Mostly I have learned that the newlyweds here are actively kind and grateful for the hard work I put into capturing their special days. Despite the vastness of the state, there is a strong feeling of community here not just between clients and supplier but also amongst vendors. The group of weddings shooters I have found here has been super friendly and supportive while I've been finding my feet in my new home, and it is very much appreciated. Y'all know who you are!
Thank you to everyone who has booked me to capture your nuptials this year and as always a massive shout out to my wife Cashmere — my best friend and biggest cheerleader — who has been there everyday encouraging me to keep doing what I love.
Here's to 2025! 🍾🎉
